Far too many Absolute Unique Visitors?

Since yesterday, my google analytics is reporting about 9 times as many AUVs as plain "Visits" - clearly not possible. Assumed it was a glitch that iron itself out overnight, but they're still there, and it seems to be happening again today.

Any ideas?

Unique Visitors are different definitions vs. Visits...and also Unique Visitors have not only IP but time frame when they return. Check definitions in the start for this. Maybe this will help.

I still don't get how I can have (significantly) more "unique" visitors, than my total number of visits. I'll go and read up, but I find it hard to believe given the terminology that I'm missing something..
