Comparing keyword rankings

Possible anymore?

Before Google shut out automated ranking programs, it was possible to get an idea of how keywords and phrases were ranking.

I'm trying to figure out why I've seen a decline in traffic. There's far too many search phrases for me to check to do it by hand, and there's no baseline for me to compare those rankings.

Google analytics, as well as my own stats program, shows the keywords used to find my site. GA has the ability to export the keyword listings in various formats.

Is there any program out there that can analyze that data and deliver some useful information? For example, comparing the number of visits for a particular phrase for this week versus this same week last year might suggest an increase or decrease in ranking. If nothing else, seeing a major change on a particular phrase would be a red flag.

Thanks for any replies.

if you use firefox, there is a plug-in that i use it may help. you tell it a specific keyword and it tells you your current numerical rank in google for that term (or phrase).

You will without a doubt find a powerful help tool in #*$!x.

They have a free trial an I know of several people who have re-registered regularly to multiply the 30 day period a couple of times. I preferred buying a full license.

Google it to find it.

It has saved me mind boggling amounts of work and time.

Hope this helps.

There are numerous tools out there but here is not the place to advertise them, I'm afraid. I would suggest using sticky mail if you would like to find out someone's personal recommendation.

However many analytics tools can provide search phrase trend analysis on an hourly, daily, monthly basis or over any given period. Several also offer a free trial.

I'd love to! Send me a Sticky Mail and I'll send it to you.

Hint: a very famous actor who loves cruising and featured as the star of a blockbuster involving Japanese master swords in the 18th century. The last word of this film's title, that's the second word.

The first word of the product name is the second word in IM without the "ing" ending. Google it and you will find it easily.

Hope the moderator will appreciate the discretion of my reply to the hint request. lol
