Looking for a Better Apache Log Analyzer

Awstats improvement?

I've been using Awstats for my web stats for years now, but it's getting really clumsy. As the traffic on one of my sites grows really high, awstats just can't handle the load. I can't even look at 'full stats' or past months etc. The only way I get stats at all is because my server runs the awstats script and generates some static HTML for the current stats once a day.

So I'm wondering if theres anything better? I'd love a php script, that scans the apache logs (i'd assume faster than perl) and then uses MySQL tables for all it's data storage, rather than 323 MB of plain text files. Nearly every page on every site, on my whole server uses php & mysql. So setting up a log analyzer that uses it would be minor, and actually much easier than setting up awstats even.

So any thoughts, opinions, product recommendations, etc?
