Search engine referrals

counted accurately in Awstats?

The logs for some of my websites should a lot of referrals with only IP addresses, which correspond to search engines like Google, Yahoo, MSN. Is it because the visitors are accessing the website from the cached version of the page or is it because Awtstats does not track 100% accurately? Do visitors access the cached version only if the website is not available or are there other reasons

I'd be willing to be that those IP's from Google, Yahoo, etc are robots looking to index your site. Check the User Agents and see what that might tell you.
