log files on old host

I forgot to download my June stats from my previous host. I have not yet canceled the account but the name servers have been changed to the new host and the site is up and running.

Is there any way I can still get to the log files on the old server via ftp?

Also, how long do I need to wait to cancel my old hosting account?

I figured out how to download the stats from my old host via ftp by using the old IP address.

Still need to know general rule of thumb about canceling my old hosting account.
