High Bounce Rate

Deep pages have high bounce rate

I have noticed lately that my bounce rate has gone from around 50% to 70% largely due to the traffic I am getting for one article that is attracting organic traffic, however it isn't specific to visitors needs. I am not getting traffic I intended for. Also I have a glossary that is getting traffic that people find the definition they want and hit the back button, at least I assume that is what they are doing.

The rest of my site seems to do well or not nearly as bad but I am curious to know if this high bounce rate is hurting my rank in the searps? I have added a google search to the glossary pages hopefully to avoid some of this.

Any suggestions, thoughts, or comments?

Thanks

You could do a pop under or find an affiliate ad that might be on topic for the traffic.

Why are you worried about the bounce rate when you know why it is happening. You only worry about bounce rate when relevant traffic is leaving. If you know the traffic is worthless then don't worry about it.

I guess I was worried that search engines may lower my rank on other good keyword traffic because of the high bounce rate.

Bounce rate is not a factor in the ranking algo.

If the traffic is leaving that means they dont find the things they are looking for. Make sure the keywords which attracts traffic, are relevant and profitable for your site or not.
