Hi,

I came across a UK based company called adinsight (www.adinsight.eu) who offer a call tracking service which integrates with Google Analytics. Has anyone used a similar service and was it worth the money.

I was looking for a similar service to Mongoose Metrics but they only operate in the US and I have a UK based business so it was no good.
I would appreciate any feedback anyone might have on this type of system.

Thanks in advance

Hi, what actually are you looking for? Can you specify tasks that you need from web site Analytics? Maybe I can help.

I run an ecommerce store where most users buy directly through the online shop selling computer goods; however we put a phone number on the website for people to call when ordering in bulk. When they do this they get much larger discounts. The problem is we can’t track where these calls are coming from, so when using PPC advertising we cannot actually tell if it is profitable or not.

AdInsight seems to change the number displayed on the website dynamically based on which PPC ad the visitor has come from, which seems like a good idea. I wanted to know if anyone else had tried this and whether it worked for them or not?

Hi, so I thought I would update people on this;

I decided to take the plunge and test [adinsight.eu ] out. Some of the results have been as expected, but others are quite interesting. Overall I think AdInsight is a fantastic addition to my analytics.

Google produced by far the most calls for both organic and paid search. Yahoo only produced a couple and MSN/Live was dismal with absolutely no calls. This was really what I expected so nothing hugely exciting there.

I also tested the paid map listings vs. normal PPC listings in Adwords and I found that although the map listings got far fewer clicks, a much higher percentage of the visitors actually called. I still need to look into this further, but I thought it was very interesting. Has anyone else had a similar experience?

So basicly you get two different phone numbers? One for PPC and one for organic trafic? - Sounds like a good solution, however you cannot segment the data deep.

I've read that another approch to track this phone-goal, is to track the visitors who visited the faq/support-page and then visited the contact-page. (You'll need to 'hide' your phone number on a specific contact-page)

This will give a rather rough approximation, but still, it allows you to deep segment visitors.

(this should be easy to setup as a goal, or to segment in a specific profile in ga)

Instead of just creating a specific contact-page, you could create a specific-phone-number-page, this would narrow the data even more - and thereby give more reliable data.

Well I have a range of different numbers and I segment users based on which PPC ad they have come in on and on which organic search term they used to find me. AdInsight provides the js code which then changes the number show on my website based on the rules you set.

It works great for me and it is as segmented as I need. I then match up click throughs with calls in my analytics software so I can further analyse the funnel. Sometimes this is a bit difficult though; like when there are 2 visitors who have used the same search phrase at around the same time.

I’m a bit unclear as to what you are trying to describe as your method, could you elaborate?
