Is it me or did Google Analytics just morph into a new, fantastically rich, amazing tool?

I don't usually use 'teenspeak' but Oh My Goodnes, I need to take a couple of weeks to wrap my head around this.

Anybody know anything about this, where this came from (is this what Urchin Corporate used to look like), who are the guys behind it, and how the heck do we use it?

Thanks,

-C

Hey Chewy,

It has been in a public beta for a couple of weeks and it is very very cool. Check the Web Analytics DeMystified blog (Eric Peterson) for a good writeup, and the Google Analytics blog itself (analytics.blogspot). And definitely the Occam's Razor (Avinash Kaushik) blog around October 22. It was introduced at eMetrics last month. Some opinions out there are that, among the paid solutions, GA now is a much more serious competitor to Omniture, less so with WebTrends which is morphing into a somewhat different analytic animal with a lot of momentum lately. So, while you're looking at Web Analytics DeMystified's blogs, check out Paul Holstein's blog as well. Very interesting developments all around.

The documentation for the new GA features are there in the general Help area but Avinash's Oct 22 article is a great intro.

I can't quite get it to work - is this still a bit before primetime?

Avinash and others make it look so easy!

Phranque,

Surely you meant something in 2008 not 2007?

my bad - reading too fast and never saw the date.
i saw brett crosby and emetrics and thought it was the same announcement.
i'm actually surprised it wasn't mentioned here 2 weeks ago!

Yes, custom segments are just totally awesome and the ability to compare 3 segments at once is great too.

I hear there's a webinar coming up on Friday and you can find some good YouTube stuff out there too.

A friend tells me that even with the new features, GA still isn't in the class of Indextools. Not to stir the pot, but I've been hearing a lot about Indextools' ability, including its architecture. What IS the status of Indextools now, anyway?
