I'm working on an affiliate site which features several banners on the homepage.
The bounce rate for the site is quite high, but SEO etc is driving more visitors to the site.
Does anyone know if Google would class clicking a banner & leaving the site as a 'bounce' and contribute to the overall bounce rate.
Is there a way of tracking 'clicks' on certain objects (e.g. banners) and marking them out in Google Analytics for analysis?
you can add the following to your banners: <a href="http://www.outbound-partner.com" onClick="javascript: pageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/outbound-banner-partner3.com');">
when you go back to your analytics screen, under the "content" section, you will find "/outgoing/outbound-banner-partner3.com" counted in your stats. give it 24hrs to register the clicks.
