Just wondering if there is anyway of finding out how many times a certain phrase has been used in a search engine, ie:car showrooms london.
Is there anyway to find such information.

There are several keyword popularity research tools like Wordtracker, the Google Adwords Keyword Tool and Trellian's Keyword Discovery, that will provide you with numbers of searches performed for particular keywords and phrases (or calculated estimates thereof). While I've found most of them to be reasonably accurate when it comes to relative keyword popularity (i.e. how popular keyword A is compared to keyword B), they simply do not have enough data available to provide accurate numbers, so keep that in mind when using them for keyword research.
