Hi everyone,
I am looking for a tool that can track the visitor's path, a tool that will show me what pages he visited before purchasing. For example someone might have first clicked on a paid ad then later clicked on an organic result before making a purchase. Currently I am only able to know the page that triggered that purchase. I'm eagerly waiting for your suggestions.

Thanks

Yes - IndexTools does this very well. It is being rebranded Yahoo Analytics and should be available again to the public (free) soon.

Also - you can use Google Analytics I think, by setting up goals through the sales funnel.

The challenge, though, is also tracking the other "touch points" which don't necessarily involve a user going to a web site... e.g. when they read an email but don't click on it, or see a banner advert but don't click on it. For this, systems like Atlas tagging are more appropriate until other system catch up. I believe Omniture has been working on this challenge as well.

Even when you DO get all this data, representing it graphically is something that is also a challenge. It's easy to visualize a single user's path, but not in a way that easily scales.
