Bugs in Analytics

Analyzing an irregularity? Check that date again.

I've been working with Analytics for a while but rarely used its export feature.

Not anymore, for recently I had to rely on it for its graphs. ( no server side stat software )

...

Analyzing an alarming irregularity in traffic I'm preparing a report.

Writing up the commentary I suddenly find that all my arguments get undermined by a mismatching DATE. i.e. the dive was NOT on 'monday' but 'saturday'.

...huh?

This makes no sense, I'm pretty sure I spent hours and hours to find out the reasons and was successful. Check again.

Date shows 'monday', all is well.
Export again.
PDF shows 'saturday' on the graph.
Scale on the graph is two days off!

... so here I am, trying to write this report with the documentation going against everything I say.

I'm good with Photoshop but give me a break.

Another issue is referring to data I exported and reported earlier, and now came back to analyze again, comparing them to more recent dates to understand trends.

But wait.
Figures are OFF.
Figures for a period show different NOW than in my past reports!

And no, they were not THAT recent in the first place, so the 'data not yet in' problem does not apply. They are showing numbers other than what I saved, exported and included in the reports.

... what the?

With all else aside, which one is real?

...

I'm pretty sure there were about half a dozen other disturbing bugs and lacking features, like not being able to tell unique visits ( not pageviews ) per region in a simple way.

What's this all about have no one reported this?
Or is it that hard to export the report to a PDF as seen on the screen?

...

</rant>

btw I think that I'm actually doing Google some free marketing in this case by using their brand product... even if for free

Do you mean GOOGLE analytics, or one of the other hundred good analytics systems?

the kind that starts with a capital A and comes up #1 if you enter it in...

enter in... uh...

YES, sorry,

GOOGLE Analytics.

I'm ahead of my age, to me Google = World.
and Chinese food in China is just called 'food', remember?

...gah... looking at the bright side... by the time most people arrive to this stage I'll be long over it.

...

p.s.: what's your preference for an alternative? I mean free alternative. or paid, if it's not too much.
