I'm currently in the process of migrating a number of customers who were still hosted on an IIS 5 box, to a server running IIS 6. However, the reason that customers were still on the IIS 5 box is that they were using WebTrends for their stats. The old version of WebTrends we had was version 5.5 (OLD OLD OLD). I got pricing for the newest WebTrends, and let me say, that I'm not even remotely considering it.

To get to the meat of the post (no offense to vegans intended), I'm looking for a low-cost competitor in the IIS log analytics business. This is a small portion of low-traffic (very low traffic in the scope of this board) web sites, that does not justify the cost of WebTrends. All we really need is basic referrer, visitor information, etc. We don't need all the fancy information and trends reporting.

Rather than search Google and end up with a half-ass piece of software, I'd like to get recommendations from the community if anyone has any experience.

Thanks,
Matt

Update: I've spent the last few hours looking, and I looked at every free log file analyzer and determined they all kind of stink (I don't want to install Perl on the server). I've really only found (2) other options: WebTrends and WhosOn, and both are overkill for this implementation. Is there anything in-between the free and the overkill?

What about continuing to use the WebTrends you already have?

WebTrends older versions registration doesn't work any more so you can't move them to a new server and have them work properly. Very annoying.

Personally I went through the same thing about a year ago - and after looking at a fair number of packages settled on WebLogExpert - reports are as good or slightly better than WebTrends 6.0

I've been trying the WebLogExpert all day, and it seems to be exactly what I need. The only unfortunate thing is that I really only need the features of the Lite version, but to get scheduling like we need you have to buy the professional edition.

Thanks Ian, your input is appreciated.
