page titles not displayed on Webtrends report

is this affected by the page URLs?

Any idea why page titles would suddenly not be displayed in webtrends reports?

Website in question was recently re-structured and is now a DotNet site, so the page URLs look very different to how they used to look.

Before the re-structuring, all the page titles were displayed in top pages, entry pages, exit pages reports.

Now only about 10% of the pages have a title displayed. These pages DO have page titles, just like before, but now all that gets reported is the URL.

This one's got me baffled. Any ideas? Anyone seen anything similar in Webtrends?

Background:

WebTrends has to go to the web site itself when it needs a title. First, though, WebTrends checks in the /titles/ folder for an existing titles cache file for that profile, and looks in that file for a title. (This means WT doesn't hit your site every time it runs a report - only when it doesn't think it already has a title).

You can have titles displaying on your old reports WITHOUT the "retrieve HTML titles" box checked, because WT will be able to work from its titles cache. But with a new site, it will need to go get new titles.

This means you need to check 3 things:

1. Do you have the "retrieve HTML titles" box checked? If you use 7 it's on the first tab of the first screen of setup.

2. Does WT have the correct domain name to go to, to get those titles? It does NOT get the domain name from the logs (I believe). WebTrends takes the domain specified by you in setup and concatenates it with the path and page URL it finds in the log. You must give the correct domain name on the same screen where you define the home page name. In 7, it's the "Home" tab of the first screen of setup.

3. Can the WT program get past your firewall to get to the site in question? And if a password is required to get into the site, have you supplied it?

I think, I HOPE, the above will solve your problem.
