Any Log Analyzer report 500 server errors?

We're looking for a better way to identify various server errors which GA can't help with. Is there an off-the-shelf app that has a report on "500" server responses? I've tried Summary which doesn't have this report, it's been a while since using a dedicated log cruncher...cheers

I know WebTrends Log Analyzer used to do this well, but alas they package it with a bunch of page tagging bs now and charge on a usage basis rather than just a domain license.

Sorry this wasn't any help, I just wish I had my old Log Analyzer back.

Zuko.

Thanks Zuko, I remember webtrends from years ago when they had a decent log analysis program. I visited their site the other day and seems they've got a whole heap of stuff to sell, looks like client side tracking and no log file cruncher. I'll keep poking around and will report back.

Actually, WebTrends is one of the few that still will do either server logs, or tags, or both if you want. It also is one of the few that will let you have the software to run on your own computers. With the software, you can use logs or tags. With the service model, you only use tags. The price model is, however, volume of pages analyzed. There are multiple levels of pricing going from "standard" up to "e-commerce" and each includes more features.

It's too bad that WebTrends' web site gives the idea that they only do tags. Many, many WebTrends users license only the software and, because of certain aspects, will probably always resist the ASP version of the solution even though the ASP version is more than enough for many people. With software, you get to re-analyze your data for free, and that's big.

You might be able to find copies of the old old Log Analyzer out there. Even the free version did 500, 404, and 300 status code reports. The 404 report was great because it identified the source of the 404.
