Earthlink NOUID bot

Cannot track this bot or find any info.

A little over a week ago I downloaded the new, "Arovax Tracker" for a trial. It looks for and removes Trojans, Keyloggers etc. Thus far I am luke warm on it, it has removed a few what it describes as "Tracking Cookies" that my Ad-Aware has missed.

The last couple of days it is telling me I have Earthlink's NOUID -1125422905854 tracking cookie. The number appears just like that with the dash in front.

I use Earthlink. I Goggled several times and at best only come up with five responses. Google tells me it is connected with Earthlink's Spy Audit, a nifty little feature I had in my last computer but this this does not apply now. The other entries are in Japanese and when I translate them they are equally impossible to understand.

It's the "tracking cookie" handle that Arovax puts on it that bothers me, I can't abide being tracked. I want to put it in my HOSTS file and block it in IE and WinPatrol but I don't want to upset something that may be important. Please do not advise me to call Earthlink, since they now employ "experts" off-shore I have never been able to understand one word they say, and I know they don't understand one dang word I say.

Anyone come up against this?

His answer did address the issue.
I change the default settings for cookie handling and deny by default, except those sites where I specifically allow cookies.

Hello Dijkgraaf. I fully understand the reasons for turning the cookies off, and how to implement this. However I really do want to learn more about this particular tracking cookie, if indeed that is what it is, and I thought this the logical place to ask. But thank you anyway.

I would recommend you Iris metrics as a trial. Very good, and cheap!
