What are these, do I need to worry?

I am seeing requests such as these show up in my logs:

[12/Apr/2008:10:34:12 -0600] "GET /proxy.php?url=http://www.example.com/folder/folder/page.htm HTTP/1.1" 404 2930 "...

I discovered this when G WMT started showing a bunch of not found errors.

Well, of course they aren't found, since they don't exist!

I have done some poking around, and it appears proxy.php is a fairly common and easily obtained script.

What I don't know is how to interpret the log entry, why WMT is showing these, and what, if any action I should take.

I am, of course, worried about attempts to do a proxy hijack on the page - something I have read about, but have never experienced.

you just have to make sure your website is protected from sql injections and remote attacks (check file/folder permission, upload..etc).. rest assured these attacks can't do anything..
