I've used google analytics to track my basic website and would understand the basics. I now need to track information across subdomains of the same site and am a little confused on what do do as I belive you need to change the Analytics code for each of the sub domains
Issue 1
My Site will have
www.mydomain.com
subdomain1.mydomain.com
subdomain2.mydomain.com
I want to be able to track a vistor as they move around all 3. The information the customer needs is spread across all and its not possible to combine it to one site. The could arrive at any of the 3 depending on how google indexes them but primarily the customer will arrive at wither www.mydomain.com or subdomain1.mydomain.com
I've placed my analytics code on the main domain but I need to know what I need to do for the two sub domains. Is it just a matter of adding the same analytics code and adding a line to tell it about the subdomain? I looked at [google.com...]
Issue 2
Say I have a page on my subdomain2.mydomain.com domain. It may have 2 or more links to the order process which is on www.mydomain.com. I want to be able to tell which actual link was clicked on to have the user go the order process. For this I was thinking that for every link I would pass a Referr as part of the link like &referr=link-1-one-page1 Is this the right way to do it. I'd then be able to look at the order page and see the referrs or can I look at my page and track the number of clicks?
I'd really appreciate any help on this
Thanks
Alan
