We track all our own hits, and this week have been noticing about 150 visits from ip addresses starting with 74.6. I think these are yahoo, but why would they use so many different ip's to index our site?

Do you have the specific address? If you go to geobytes website, you can use the locator. It looks like some come from Atlanta.

The whole IP block is owned by the Inktomi Corporation - i.e. Yahoo.

Possibly the same reason why AOL visitors have multiple IP addresses in the same visit. Some kind of outward load balancing.
