hi there

i use Google analytics and i think it`s very nicely done on the outside but doesnt give the crucial info. which can explain what is your traffic consists of.
(you probably know what i am talking about)

since i am a newbie webmaster my question is :

is there a way to track my users age , name , habits , more detailed
information .

if anyone knows a cookie that does that i`ll be glad to know about it.

thanks a lot

Ask your users for it (i.e., registration page). Expect that a lot of them (most in some cases) will lie and provide bogus information, so take and use the information provided with a healthy dose of skepticism.

It sounds like you think that this info is gathered in a person's computer and is transmitted somehow when a person uses a browser. Definitely not, sorry. Nor does Google have a way to collect that information in a database somewhere and if they did they would not give it to you in the free analytics program. Or any other way, for that matter. You can buy email lists that have some personal information with them, but they are not free and they are mostly incorrect or outdated. Your question is not unusual for a newbie - people tend to think the Internet (or Google) is more powerful and all-knowing than it really is, and people also tend to think that everything's free or freely available.

Track down Microsoft's alternative to Google Analytics. Called "Gatineau". If GA can get their name plastered all over this forum, then I'm formally giving Microsoft's product equal footing.

Mind you... the beta sign up page seems to be down at th moment. sigh

Aargh, I forgot all about Gatineau. I'm not familiar with how well it performs this aspect of things, though.

I guess some things in life ARE free, if you don't count the indirect costs!
