WebTrends : grouping users

Hi all,

We've recently bought WebTrends 7 enterprise. Currently we distinguish between users by looking up the authenticated username in our server logs.

However, we'd rather group these users by the company for which they work. A scan of the documentation shows that it is possible to organize users via their IP address. Unfortunately this approach doesn't work in our specific case.

Ideally I'd like to maintain a table of user-company mappings and let Webtrends use that to group the usernames. I can cook up a script to change the logfiles, but if possible I'd prefer to leave the logs intact and let Webtrends do the conversion when generating the reports.

Do you know whether this is possible without custom pre-processing?

Look into WT 7's segmentation feature and read up on the whole Visitor History part of the program.
