A Google Analytics "howto"

Is it possible to not include a goal page in overhaul statistics?

Hi all,

Assaf is here.

I'm using Google Analytics to track several of my sites. I've setted up several goals and it's all seems to be generally working fine :)

However, I wish I could remove www.mysite.com/thanks-for-buying.html

From the statistics.

You see: I just don't want my Goal pages to bias my traffic statistics.

Any ideas will be more than welcome.

Happy new year all and good luck!

If I understand it properly

Just remove the google analytic script from your goal page - then the traffic will not be recorded to the analytics. However, you need it to set your goal. Therefore, just subtract the number of visits to this page from the total visits to your site.

Best wishes,

Hum

Thanks Hum

You got it right.

I thought about your solution as well, however, I wonder if there's a more elegant way to do it?

Cheers

Within the GA setup make a new custom filter based on "Requested URI" and enter the URI you want excluded.

Note that this will only work going forward, of course.

Thanks

So I did, and it does ignore the page I want Analytics to ignore. So far - great :)

My question is other: does this page still count as a goal?

I saw a very steep decline on THAT goal conversion since yesterday.

Can it be that not only google doesn't count this page visits, but it also doesn't consider it a "goal achieved" anymore?

GA is a very simple program, really. You don't get a lot of flexibility. Yes, it probably will trash your goals. Sorry, I really should have thought of that before offering a solution.

Yeah, I cancelled the filter.

Thanks anyway :)
