Visitor tracking

Hi

I am responsible for managing the careers website for a group of companies that trade under one name and am new to web management.

For a variety of reasons our vacancies are posted and candidates apply through two methods, one way is by using the website CMS and the other is through an automated recruitment management tool.

As a recent convert to website analytics, I have begun to realise that there is some very specific information that I need that google analytics just can't provide.

Currently I can only track a set of visitors from their source to the point of application (set up as a goal1 and goal2 for the different systems). I really need to know the specific source of the individual so that I can get to understand what works for different vacancy types and to trace the source of people who are ultimately offered jobs. Ideally, I would like the source information to be imported into a field in the two different systems automatically.

I am sure in a more traditional e-commerce site that this must also be possible but can't seem to find this on any posts.

Can anyone advise if there is a way/web tool available that can do this?

Thanks in advance for helping a newbie!

One potential way to do this is to enable ecommerce tracking in GA for your site & track the goal as a transaction. You will have to generate a unique transaction id & details which you think relevant. That way each application will get a unique transaction ID & you can go back and see the source of the people who were offered jobs.

Hope this helps.
