This may sound silly, but:

1.) Can Google Analytics interfere with anything?
In other words, if I install it, are there ANY potential side effects?

2.) Can/should GA be installed on every page of the site?

We have a variety of inbound links, not all of them going to the home page. Thus, I'd like to track *everything* (evil laugh). But once again, are there any drawbacks (to having the GA script on every page)?

3.) Does having GA installed affect your Google PageRank in any way?

We used to have PR 5 on home page, but it fell to PR 3 in the space of 2 weeks... trying to find out what the #### happened.

Thanks in advance!

welcome to WebmasterWorld, alexnero!
thanks for delurking.

- the only side effects i can think of are a small amount of extra code on the page and an extra HTTP GET for that page.

- GA can be put on any/all pages of your site and should be put on all pages you want to track.

- GA wouldn't be very popular if it immediately reduced PR!

Thank you, phranque! This clears up a few things.

Another question (if I may): would *removing* GA code from all pages contribute to a PR drop?

Here's the situation:

1.) Our site had PR5 as of about 3 weeks ago (last time I checked).
2.) A couple of days ago, I've noticed 2 things: a.) Our PR has dropped to 3 (from 5! in 2 weeks!), and b.) Our web developer has removed all GA code from all pages.

I understand that this may be a coincidence, but - could these two be related, i.e. would *removing* GA code affect PR in any way?

Just trying to troubleshoot why our PR & traffic dropped (unique hits stayed at approx. the same level though) over the course of 2 weeks - without any significant changes to the site.
