Hi Friends,

Iam a new member of this group.

Iam recentlly got an assignment to know more information about Web Analytical Tools Like WebTrends and Omniture.Iam new to this tools environment.

Please can any one send me the details about the tools (WebTrends and Omniture). i have certain queries about the tools

1. What kind of database these supports for reporting

2. Can we customize the tools according to user needs.

3. Tutorial PDF's on tools

4. provide the URL from where can i download the trial version of tools to understand more

When you are talking about the more advanced tools like these, this is not a task for a newbie. They are too complicated and the stakes are too high. You can not trust what the vendors tell you because they just want you to buy it. I suggest you find somebody who is experienced in the field, perhaps a consultant or someone who has experience with both of these products. That person should meet with you to find out what you need and also find out what capability you have for managing these in the long run. Then they can match that with the tool. There are other tools to look at that cost much less and they may be all you need.

If you think you need one of the big tools and if your company is probably going to spend a lot of money, insist on a Proof of Concept before you make a decision. This means the vendor actually sets it up with your data and shows you exactly what you will get.

Trying to decide this without expertise and experience is like a businessman trying to choose a programming language without knowing anything technical and without asking his programmers. Nobody can simplify it enough for the businessman to make the right decision for his technical staff.
