I run daily or bi-daily Key Word rank reports for several domains that I've got. I usually have around 20 or so KW's that I need to keep an eye on.

If using my reportin tools such as "topdog" and "rank tracker" - do you think that the SE's will ban my originating IP due to too many querries?

Thanks!
SW

Not ban your IP (Actually, Google already does that occassionally... but the block is generally temporary).

I'd be more worried about your site getting hurt long term than your IP. Google has very specifically said that automated queries are not something they appreciate. It's in their guidelines somewhere.

Mind you, Buying advertising is also not encouraged in their guidelines... oh wit ... whole other debate.

So, what is the best way to check your rankings? Manually? SIGH

I think Google provide an API for programmers to use for automated queries. It allows them to automate 1000 queries each day.

I don't think they are doing that anymore. If they are, they are keeoing it a big secret because I cannot see where to get one.
