Hi All,

I am new to webtrends and am having a doubt in it. Can anyone please help me..

In the report, 21% of visits are from an "Unknown" country when I have more than 98% of the visits from a known organization? Since the organizations all have country codes, I would think WebTrends would be able to significantly reduce the percentage of visits from an "Unknow" country.

And also In the report, total count of visits by organization is 21% less than the total count of visits by country. Hence Unknown countries do not contribute to the organizations counts?

Can anyone please explain me what exactly is happening...

Hello Pinkz,

I looked at those two reports, Countries and Organizations, and found that the numbers were matching in my case. I did not find any unknown countries or organizations. Not helpful for your problem. However, our GeoTrends is close to being up to date. The current version of GeoTrends is 8.200611. Having this component up to date is important to resolving the geographic information you are looking at.

I hope this helps.

It's also possible that your site is getting a lot of hits by reserved IP addresses, i.e. from networks internal to your organization or your ISP. I don't remember the IP ranges of theses reserved IP's, but they start with 172, 192, and 10. Since these IPs are used over and over internally, they don't really belong to anybody and appear as "unknown." Check your visitor report for IPs in these ranges, or look at your logs.

Yes cgrantski is correct.

Check your filters. For 8.0 Enterprise, they are located under
Web Analysis¦Options¦Hit Filters

To filter internal traffic from your reports, you will need:
Exclude filter
Active Hit Filter Parameters-Address

Select the Address tab and choose "User Defined Address"
Then enter: 172.* 192.* 10.*
Spaces included.
