Hello WebmasterWord Community:

Does anyone have any suggestions about how I can track purchases on my e-commerce site by promotional/coupon code in Google Analytics?

When customers make a purchase on my site, in the cart they are given an option to enter a promotional code. I'd like to see a report that allows me to see purchases made by the different types of promotional codes.

I appreciate the help, thanks!

We setup the coupon with a specific url tied to it. For example: site.com/coupon1 You can then see all of the visitors that come into the site from the coupon.

If you want to track the actual sales from the coupon I think you would need to setup a goal and have the customer get a custom thank you page when they finalize the order.

Thanks for this feedback.

I guess I didn't tell the whole story in my original post. I'm trying to set up an affiliate relationship with a third party vendor.

The third-party vendor has set up a special promotional code, and I pull affiliate commissions for all purchases made with the promotional code. The vendor has offered to grant me access to their Google Analytics, and I was trying to see whether it's possible to create a report that viewed all purchases for a given time period by promotional code.

I was hoping to avoid creating new URLs or cart thank you pages. Is it possible to create the report I need with minimal development?

Thanks.
