What changed in the last 6 months?

I typically don't pay much attention to Alexa data but today I was doing some research and came across what appears to be happening across 95% of the sites I checked (20 of them). There has been a downward trend in Alexa scores over the past six months, even for top properties.

Did something change? Are Alexa Toolbars being uninstalled? What gives?

Or, did I use a poor data set for comparison?

That can't be the reason, as for every site that goes DOWN the list, another must take its place I would assume. So I guess if you need to get the bottom of that, you'll need to track the big climbers... the one getting above the deteriorating ones.

They did change their style of reporting. Instead of number of toolbar users or number per million, or whatever it was, now they report what percent of internet users visit your site. This seems to be a cute gimmick to sell silly t-shirts. ".000000000345% Love My Site!" which is a little sobering.

I've also seen a downward trend, though I'd agree something must be taking the open slots.

Another change is it's easy to see how your site fares in various countries. Apparently, I'm big in Pakistan.?!? Funny, nobody there ever wrote me.
