How can I determine the number of pageviews of another site? I was told that could be determined from the Alexa site but I don't see it there.

Just trying to get an approximate (or better)volume of pageviews for a website prior to an appointment with the site owner.

Alexa can you tell you nothing except the behaviour of people who use the Alexa toolbar.

They have zilch to say about non-alexa users, the price of eggs, or Paris Hilton. Or anything else remotely interesting or useful.

There's an analytics site for tracking Paris Hilton?

I didn't know the LA Sheriff's Office had a website!

Unless the site provides that information somewhere, there really isn't any way to tell, at least not that I've ever heard of. The Alexa ranking thing can be somewhat useful for larger (higher-ranking) sites, but only in relative terms within whatever is that site's niche.

For instance, you might be able to use Alexa's rankings to see that WeRepairWidgets.com is about the same "size" as WeFixWidgets.com, and that the former is growing and the latter is declining. But you wouldn't be able to compare WeRepairWidgets.com directly to WidgetRellersIntl.com, because the niche is different.

Other than approximating from Alexa, as far as I know you would have to consult directly with the site owner for this site-specific information.

I'd say that you can forget about the reliability of Alexa information until you get to ranks with 4 figures, I know for sure that sites in the low 5 digits bear some relation to reality but take them with a big pich of salt.

If you must use Alexa then beware; Alexa values visitors more than page views in its calculation of overall rank so a site with twice as many page views as another that has double the visitors (e.g. site 1 has 1 visitor and 8 pageviews vs site 2 with 2 visitors and a total of 4 pageviews) may appear to be less busy!
