GA Average time on site. What does it mean?

Hi, lets say I have 10 page views. And in the Google Analytics, it says Avg Time on Site is 4 minutes.

Does this mean that total time for 10 pages is 4 minutes, or 1 page is 4 minutes?

total time on site, all pages.

Well, actually, that's the time for the first 9 pages. GA doesn't know how long the last page was on the screen.
