I have an income generating website that has been experiencing some downtime due to various server issues. I have looked at several website monitoring services: watchmouse, alertra, alertsite, webwatchbot, etc. I only have one server (dedicated) and do not require very complicated monitoring processess (is the site online?, databases functioning?, etc). Some are free, some are reasonably priced, and some are ridiculously expensive.
Is there a "Best" software or is it just preference? Can someone help explain the pros and cons of some of these softwares?
Thanks a lot,
Shane
Could you spacify your requirements for tracking/monitoring software in a bit more details?
Sometime ago I've discovered [edit: No specifics - see charter].

With a good host there is no need to monitor...
And there are fewer issues...
You get what you pay for usually...
unfortunately...sometimes you don't know that you have a crappy host until after you begin to rely on them...
however, I've found that a 3 dollar a month hosting company is usually as reliable as a 3-dollar bill...
If you have to spend money watching your host...it's time to move on...
(just my $0.02)
Thanks!

I don't really know what I need to monitor. My SQL server has crashed serveral times for no apparent reason. And once my entire server crashed. And I am using superb.net, a highly rated company.
I didn't see anything about this sales-and-stats software... only montastic, alertsite, alertra, webwatchbot, webmouse.. etc. Why do you like this one over the rest? The feature that allows you to watch home customers moves at your site in realtime sounds very cool though.
I have very minimal monitoring needs. Basically: is the site up and functioning. period. that's it. what is my best option?
