Hi,
Does a page tagging tool like Google Analytics exclude bots.
Is the bot executing the tagging javascript code?

Thanks

Usually bots are excluded - precisely because bots do not execute javascript code. They also don't tend to accept cookies.

some tagging based tools would provide .php or .asp tracking codes so in that case it would include bot activities.

To get stats on bot activity you need log files based analysis most of the time.
Even though I think that a few bots (not google, msn yahoo) would execute JS.

I think that webtrends and some others use both tags + log files if configured to do so.

Thanks for the feedback

Therefore JS tags provide a cleaner picture on the human visits a site gets.
