But, my boss wants me to run them for a few SEO clients, either on a monthly basis or quarterly basis, depending upon which "package" they buy.
I've gone out and looked at the various SE ranking software programs, and recommended one that gives the flexibility of setting the time between SE queries. The program calls the option "responsible." You may know the program by my mentioning that term.
I've set the time between queries to between 20 and 40 seconds, and have restricted the number of query downloads to four at one time. As a result, ranking reports for some large sites can take two to three days.
Nonetheless, I'm concerned about our company's site being penalized. I've warned the "boss" about this before, but to no avail.
Somehow I doubt that the search engines would penalize an individual site for such automated queries. Rather, I think the SE's would penalize the IP that the automated queries were coming from.
I need to talk to my boss. Your opinions are much appreciated.
