I started seeing requests for my CSS file yesterday - but ONLY my CSS file with www.theirdomain.com/mypagename.htm as referer where www.mysite.com/mypagename.cgi is dynamic.
www.mysite.com is new. It ranks well in G, but only for niche words totally unrelated to theirsite.com. it's still PR0..
This confused the h*ll out of me.
Loading theirsite/mypagename in firefox showed my content very briefly before being re-directed to their site's main page. Loading thiersite.com/mypagename in konquerer with redirects shut off let me view source. What they had posted was static output from my CGI, with a meta refresh at the bottom of the page. The fully qualified url to my stylesheet was still there.. huh?
I emailed and followed up with a call, mentioned copyright infringement and thier copy of my page was taken down. Not sure what they were trying, but my htaccess bans them now...
Anyone have a clue?
I wondered about the doorway thing. Doesn't make much sense to me though - The CGI they scooped was a million miles away from their own content... Either way, If they do it again I'll DMCA their host. One warning is enough.
