I guess if you're in the web analytics space, it was a requirement to annouce something today. First WebTrends, then Urchin/Google, and now Sane Solutions annouced a free version of NetTracker.

Sorry if this is a repost but I didn't see it anywhere else.

That's awesome, I just downloaded a copy. Sweet!

It's actually kinda funny, NetTracker Lite is limited to 1 million page views and it's free..

WebTrends just increased their price for their product that's limited to 1 million page view, SMB or something like that..they want $900 now (was $700 last week)?!

I think my mind is made up..

Awesome! Well spotted corbing...
I am wondering why nobody has reacted yet to this great news.
May be corbing is right, it is a repost?
Go and get it now... Works great!

That program is not easy to use I bet they make the money off of training and set up.

We use the commercial product of NetTracker and we found it very easy to use.

Don't get too excited, guys. The free version offers VERY limited functionality.

>>The free version offers VERY limited functionality.

As a clarification - I should have pointed out that my above comment was strictly in relation to the FULL version of NetTracker - a very heavy-duty program.

In relation to other free or lower priced log analysis programs, NetTracker Lite is very much worth a try. My intent was to bring perspective to the thread. If you are looking for a $600 program for free, this isn't it. If you are looking for a nice lower cost (or FREE, in this case) solution, by all means take a look at NetTracker Lite.

A million page views is a pretty significant volume of traffic - at 1,000 page views per day it would take three years to reach that level (not that you couldn't figure that part out yourself :)).

At any rate, my understanding from an email from Sane tech support is that the program does not stop working after 1 million page views, but you would need to remove some data. Of course, by the time that's a problem, you could probably afford to upgade to the full version.

Thanks for the corbing! It's good to have new software to play around with, espically on a Friday :)
