Awstats: Reliable?

I am currently running a website but have become weary of AWSTATS. Is it reliable? What are internet media companies asking for when they need proof of stats for a website?

Since awstats is open source, there is no guarantee of reliability. This said, you have the option of including features that you need to have (to the extent that it is possible to implement them).
