the ecommerce software that i am using at present gives very unreliable stats.

generally for now all i want to know are page views and uniques.

i have found a system on the net that i like and in order for it to work i have to implement code.

it is about 6 lines of javascript.

before i rush in and do it, i was wondering if this would be frowned upon bu search engines when they come and spider.

many thanks

I have been using something similar on my sites for a couple of years with no apparent problem.

No.it isn't.
On the contrary, pay attention to the fact that often the script contains elements to promote the "stat" Company.
If you're clever in javascript you can detect and remove the string.

In any case the "stat" code don't "frown" in any way SE spiders.
