Working with "Thank You" pages

Most of the log-analyzer programs I have found require me to enter the url of the "Thank You" page in order to set a "goal" that determines what a sale is. The way my "Thank You" page is configured, it is in php and loads within the same url as the page where the lead information was entered (lead generation, no actual "sale" where there is a credit card receipt).

My question is, how do I handle this when entering my "Thank You" url?

Call an image on the thankyou page only referenced from there and then set the URL to the image.

If you HAVE to call a page, call this in an iframe on the thankyou page.

either way - exclude the image or iframed file in robots.txt if you have any chance of avoiding false positives.
