Reporting on hits to password protected pages

Is this information in the logfile?

Probably a dumb question, but I've not had to do it before :-) Will log analyzers report on hits to pages behind a password protected area? Or do you need the login details (user authentication).

I'm assuming everything's in the logfile, no matter if it's protected or not, so you just have to extract it.

Can someone confirm this?

Yes. If the pages are on the same site (server also) and got served, they got logged unless logging was turned off for the protected pages' somehow. If they got logged, they'll be analyzed. But your analysis program can't get at the live protected pages, and it may need to do so in order to retrieve the page titles. I don't think any analysis program will not analyze a log file line for which it cannot retrieve the page title, though.
