Hi,
I work for a Dutch newspaper publisher and we are looking for a new web analytics tool. A Dutch company [edit]snip[/edit] uses a technology called network protocol analysis. This should be a non intrusive way, so without JavaScript tagging, to measure visitors and analyse click paths. Who has any experience with this method and what are pro's and cons.

thanks,
Jakko

Hi.
Although I do not know the company exactly I'm very familiar with using packet sniffing and protocol analysis for web analytics purposes as I'm architect of clickstream processing engine based on packet sniffing. The approach is really non-intrusive, as you do not need any log files or website modification when incorporating page tags. Additionally, clickstream data get from packet sniffing (however it must be a special sniffer, not the common ones used for network analysis) provide more accurate data and more information than conventional clickstream data collection methods. There is one disadvantage that is similar to web logs approach - as the sniffer must be placed near the tracked server (on the same network line), there may be similar problems when dealing with proxy caching. If a hit does not arrive to the server, you do not have it. This is in short from me. Try to search for clickstream processing engine.

Sorry, I don't have any information about Moniforce complete product or solutions.
