I have a much hijacked photograph. I've one person who has avoided DMCAs by having the image located on a different server than his website. I am a MAC user and would like to know how I can "track back" the image.

Any help appreciated.

I'm not sure what you mean by the guy avoiding action by having the image on a different server...?

At a guess, the situation is that BadGuy has a ScamSite, and ScamSite is displaying YourImage inside ScamSite by calling YourImage from RemoteServer.

Regardless of whether BadGuy owns (is responsible for) the account on RemoteServer from which YourImage is being called, you should be able to contact the upstream owner of RemoteServer about getting YourImage removed. Then there will be no file for ScamSite to call.

Eliz,

Thanks, but I've tried everything. The bad guy has a ISP host, however he has placed my photograph on his e-mail server. I had some help and itwas tracked to the specific server and ISP.

The ISP claims they can't find the image and so it remains. After a Cease&Desist letter from my lawyer, he switched ISPs for his main site. Evidently, he still maintains the image on the E-mail server of his old ISP, with a url indicating which hosts his main web site, not the actual name of the E-mail server.

All this will no doubt be settled in court, but I hoped there was a way to track back. I had help before, but I'm not sure of the proceedure to use to help my attorney.

A mess!

Thanks,

Willjan
