Based on keywords, rankings and inbound links, I guess that the traffic for a particular website can be estimated quite accurately. I wonder whether there are any tools that you could recommend.

I tried alexa, but then it seems to work only with high-traffic sites.

;-)..Search engines ..

many sites ( or their hosts ) have ..by inadvertance allowed their stats pages to be spiderable ..and searching for certain strings may pull up all you need ..those who have taken action ..frequentlly have not been able to remove those pages from SE caches ..

same applies to selling on line ..many "thank you for buying " and "here is your unlock code" pages are floating around the innerweb tubes ..

the most important think to do to learn to exploit / influence search engines is to learn how to use them ..

curiosity is also a prerequisite ..and a certain amount of what Mr DeBono called lateral thinking ..

Some interesting tools being developed by Microsoft right now [adlab.microsoft.com]

Also Yahoo [siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com]

I heard a rumour that AOL had some data [webmasterworld.com] somewhere as well ;)
