Hi

every month my referrer logs show a few entries like the one below

++++++++++++#*$!X+++++++++++++++++

when i click on it to investigate, it returns a not found?

has any one seen this before and what could it be?

Hi,

Referer entries are completely forgable and should not be trusted for anything much. Especially don't just click on them as in the worst case your machine may get compromised or crashed as in this old jape to sink Linux boxes: file://dev/random

Most likely that munged/invalid value was put there by something like Norton Security or an anonymising proxy.

Sometimes I block users with forged refers, when I get sufficiently p**sed off.

From what I know CLICKING on them in your reports is probalby a bad idea as well if it's an exploit variety of JS type...
