I'm thrilled with Google Analytics (the free part) and am working like the devil to get it working with an external shopping cart (remember, this is LOW BUDGET).
I'm trying to do Goal Tracking.
Theoretically, if the tracking code is on the thank you page (that is called generated from the shopping cart but is on the original.com site), then the GA cookie that is started with the visit should match up when the thank you page is loaded, right? This should then fire off counting a conversion, and all the good stuff associated with that.
Right now, I can't seem to track ANY conversions after trying it a couple of ways (and waiting a few hours etc). I know that there are conversions as AdWords is tracking them. Just Google Analytics isn't.
It seems that the "thread" of the cookie is lost when the visitor exits the site to get to the shopping cart.
Does this seem right? Might there be any easy workarounds?
Any GA experts out there?
Tx!
You may track your conversions using Cross Channel Goal tracking. You will need to put the analytic code with some extra vars both on your shopping cart pages and your site pages.
the detailed instructions can be had from here-

Hope this works for you as it is working fine for me
