I'm in the process of switching web hosts, and I'm wondering if I'll be able to analyze my old log files using my new hosting company. My old host had LiveStats 6 (running on Windows), and I have access to the logs folder. My new host uses Urchin, runs on Linux but I can't figure out where the log files are stored.

Is it possible to analyze the log files from my old host by either:

1. Figuring out how logs are analyzed on the new host and placing the old log files there?
or
2. Installing a program like AWStats on a local computer in my office, and generating reports from here?

1. Yes if you can get the cooperation of your new hosting people, probably.

2. Yes, lots of people do that.

3. Start asking your current hosting provider for logs now. They may destroy them after a short period of time (keeping only the reports which take up much less space) or they may not want to give them up, period.

You can get better things for free than analog. It has many fine qualities but, for example, it doesn't sessionize.
