I have no access log file available, so what stats solution would you recommend?

Of course I would prefer a free solution (perhaps written in PHP).

What do you experts recommend?

There are a few clear gif tracking solutions out there. Do a search for those terms.

I use webstat.com - it's not free, but only 10bucks a month. Provides tons of details: IP, refering site, visitor details and such specifics as their trail through your pages (including how long they viewed each page, etc. Reports are easy to read. Can pay monthly, just add their tracking code to your pages to get started :-)

This system seems to use Perl. I'm not familiar with Perl. Isn't there any good PHP/MySQL stats solutions out there?

Webstat.com looks very nice, but my site recieve a lot of page views, so this would cost much more than $10 per month.
