High Traffic Real Time

Hello,

What is the best real time traffic monitor (non log file) for high traffic sites (ie 1 mill +)

I dont want to pay large amounts of money. I would like a counter on the page to increment in real time.

Please advise

I use an ad management script, where I place a small snippet on the bottom of my pages, then track impressions in real time (independently) for each site.

It was the only thing I could think to do for some of our high-traffic sites. I've used WebTrendsLive and some others, but they are generally running several hours behind and can get costly at a few million impressions per month.

Conventional log methods are worthless for a quick peek of site traffic, when log files quickly bloat to 1GB or more a week. I automatically download the logs at midnight once a week to be able to do thorough analysis through standard WebTrends.

I haven't heard of deepmetrix before, but it 'says' it's real-time. May be worth a look since the price is a fraction of most of the others, and apparently provides much more than basic impressions.

From what I have experienced with deepmetrix is that the "whos on" is a delay of about 20 mins, and sometimes the program crashes, which entails a re-install.

It does fine for that, but the keyphrases and such it just shows keywords, not the phrase that was used.

Those 1 Million hits ... is that a day, week, month, hour, ..?

I don't get anywhere near that kind of traffic, but you can check out iWebTrack - www.iwebtrack.com - great real time stats. For that kind of traffic though, you're going to pay for it. You're not going to find a $10 a month solution...

I've had some sites hosted that came with DeepMetrix stats before but, while the 'Who's on' function was pretty good, the stats program itself was continually freezing/sticking (sometimes for days) - and this was with two seperate hosting companies. I ended up moving from those hosts because I just couldn't come to rely on the stats program at all. Shame really 'cos I do miss the 'real-time' part of the program.

Yeh, this crashing issue is coming up a lot from various sources.

Is the experience of crashing with the installed program version ie livestats

or the pay monthly (runs of their servers) version which is deepmetrix.

I would imagine the version running of their servers would be more stable.
