"Failed Forms Submitted"

What could this mean on a simple site

Hi - I've got a simple site -- no dynamic pages, no forms, just a few links..And they all seem to work fine. Looking over my monthly WebTrends report, I've got 23 hits of "failed forms submitted" - about 22% of the total "forms submitted" --- what could be causing this? Thanks!

Just as a point of reference -- the site gets about 60 visitors per day.

I think that you could be seeing an attempt by a webserver with one of the many IIS viruses that are out there connecting to your site:

For example I have the following entry in my logs:

"GET /scripts/..%c1%9c../winnt/system32/cmd.exe?/c+dir HTTP/1.0" 404 231 "-" "-"

I would be slightly concerned that webtrends only reports that 22% of the requests failed. If you have access to the raw logs it maybe worth trawling through them to find out exactly what request is being made.

Try this search [searchengineworld.com] for more info about the IIS and viruses.
