awstats add to favourites

How is this estimated?

Does anyone know how awstats estimates the number of users who add the site to their avourites? Is it based on length of time spent on the site?

OK I think I found it - in the changlog on the awstats site: Do a search through the document for "fav" and you'll find the explanation under version 5.7, to paraphrase it:

The value reported is the total hits on favicon.ico by IE browsers divided by the ratio of IE to other browsers used on the site in question.

Any IE browsers? I think the bookmarking-favicon issue is only for 5 and 6?

You'll see the relevant text. If the link above gets nixed, go to the awstats site and look at the changelog for latest version.

It doesn't specifically say all versions, but given the methodology you'd assume it would only be versions that pick up on favicon - all others are pretty immaterial numbers now anyways...
